Belinda Fox
Drawing from her skills as a former master printer and fusing together personal and global concerns, Belinda Fox’s work lays bare the paradoxes endemic to contemporary human experience. Working in painting, drawing, glass, sculpture, printmaking and in collaboration, Fox examines the volatility of our era, excavating the iridescent beauty that flickers below the shadowy surface of conflict and despair.
Fox grew up in regional Victoria and lived in Singapore and the Netherlands, and is currently based in Melbourne. Fox presents us with artworks in which beauty is a gateway into dense conceptual terrain patchworked with blackness and light, an ‘antidote’ to our polarised epoch; a bridge connecting us through a shared – albeit almost forgotten – humanity.
Sue Lovegrove
Sue Lovegrove is a contemporary visual artist based in Lutruwita/Tasmania, Australia.
Sue’s paintings and miniature works on paper investigate themes of environmental precarity and the complex relationship humans have with the landscape – how we perceive it , how we impact it and how it impacts us. Often shifting between representational and abstract imagery, she explores the transient and ephemeral qualities of the natural world – the shifting patterns of life, light and sound as well as the invisible and temporal phenomena of the weather and how it imprints on our bodies. For Sue, painting is not just about looking at landscapes but experiencing them and being touched by them. Its allowing the self to be changed by experiences of places.
